The Amendment
On 11th of August 2020, the honorable Supreme Court of India made a historic judgement thus amending The Hindu Succession Act of 1956, which denied a daughter to be the rightful and lawful heir to the family. I am not a feminist (the so called trend) but this judgement surely is one of those decisions that could make a difference in India. A difference, yes, I don't mean the monetary perks (it is a part and parcel of this amendment) which according to me is the least important part here. The difference I mean is this: The change in the thoughts certainly in everyone but most importantly "The Daughters of India". If you ask me, how? Here we go… We, the current generation fight boldly for gender rights, work ethics and humanity and equality in every aspect openly. But the older generations do not and that is where I feel the existence of social stigmas.
